Car en fait, sans qu’il le sache vraiment quoiqu’il ne fût pas né de la dernière pluie, j’avais souvent pénétré dans le bureau de Vila-Matas tandis qu’il écrivait. Je l’avais fait discrètement mais j’avais un passe, et je m’asseyais dans le fauteuil vert. Je ne le regardais pas vraiment, je laissais errer mon regard par la fenêtre qui donnait sur une rue de Barcelone. Je me disais que j’étais en Espagne et cela me plaisait.

Dans le train qui l’emmène vers un festival littéraire, Anne Serre a emporté un livre d’Enrique Vila-Matas. Soudain, l’auteur espagnol est là, assis à côté d’elle. Heureuse coïncidence ou fruit de son imagination? Elle entame avec lui une conversation qu’on dirait commencée depuis longtemps… Plus tard, ils seront voisins de chambre dans un hôtel où l’on croisera aussi Anna Magnani… Tout cela est-il bien réel?
