Presentation
In a classified advertisement, Franck Maubert came across a house on the banks of the river Loir and fell in love with the place and its unspoilt natural surroundings. He buys the house without further thought. Pierre de Ronsard was born nearby, at the Château de la Possonnière, near the village of Couture-sur-Loir in the Vendôme region a few centuries earlier. The landscapes, undergrowth and sunken lanes that Franck Maubert strolls are the same, save for a few details, as those in which the poet walked before...
As we celebrate the 500th anniversary of Ronsard’s birth in September 2024, Franck Maubert brings the genius of the place back to life. In so doing, he points to the permanence of beauty through time, giving this tale a spellbinding charm imbued with great emotion.
Franck Maubert is the author of novels and essays on art, including Le dernier modèle (Prix Renaudot Essais 2012), L’eau qui passe (Prix Jean Freustié 2019) and Histoires naturelles, translated into Castilian/America latina (Interzona).
